I purchased the Innova 3340 multimeter because I needed a new multimeter but also because it has an rpm function and an inductive picup.

I haven't been able to get an accurate reading using it. It has a few different setting for rpm including DIS (distributorless Ignition system) and selectable cylinders from 1 up to 12 I think. Has anyone used one of these or similar on a rigid sporty to check engine rpm.

I have a Fluke 78 auto meter that requires the DIS on my 2001 dual fire.
Needed because both plugs fire at the same time.

Do you use an inductive pickup or if not how do you get the tach signal/rpm.

Just decided to check the speedo for codes and found a d02set code "speed sensor shorted hi or open"fsm says to check connector 65 b. I did have that connector apart so will check it. Also says to check for debris on the soeedo sensor. Haed to get s 3/16 allen in there.

Jordan,
Did you get it to work?
Try turning the inductive pickup around 180 degrees and see if the reading
becomes normal.
This is characteristic of some inductive pickup devices for some reason. The
data logger I used did the same thing, and I believe I've got a timing light
around here that does it.
