Numbers matching Rolls Royce. Government Tags still in cosmoline.

12 cylinder, 4 valves per, dual mags and aluminum head and block, WWII tank motor.

The P51 Mustang motor is the same with a blower....called the Merlin.

B-17 Flying Fortresses with massive battle damage

Both aircraft pictured were struck with 88mm anti aircraft guns while on bombing runs over Germany. In both instances, the pilots managed to limp their wounded aircraft back to their homes fields. The Bombardiers and Navigators, who sit in the front of the aircraft, were killed.

In my younger days I worked at a marina. There where quite a few old girls like that in the harbor. A few of the owners lived on board. I could only dream. The harbor was split like a Y, sailboats on one arm and power craft on the other. There was not much need for staircases in the harbor so I moved on.

By the way, the problem remained till the end, they strenghtened the superstructures on the rear of the ships, but still, they were known as "shakers".

The french liner Normandie got the same problems.
