Look at his feet(cowhand) he's ready to cue the horse to cross over so he can lasso the hind legs....that Lariat is way too short for going over that long horn....them things have been seen charging the horse when lassoed across the head....best to trip them ,with their hind legs tied they are useless and they don't move anymore.

Good catch. Even though you can't see the rider's eyes, you can pretty much tell where he is looking and timing where the feet will be.

As a kid I used to watch the roping competitions right out of my back window. I tried several times, but couldn't for the life of me even rope a fence post. Takes some practice.

My cousins were barrel racers and rope queens (Not the right term I know, but it sounded good).

I can't talk for other ships but the footage from the RPV's showed pretty accurate shell drops from both our 16's and our 5's.

Amazing considering the powder for the 16's was produced in the 30's and 40's.

Agreed! I run rc's cars, planes, and boats. Had a cop once run over an expensive touring car once. He swerved to hit it. He stopped and yelled at me for driving it in the street. Well I was testing the camber but he was to stupid to know what that was. Car is made mainly of carbon fiber so its didnt hurt much. When I fly planes its s big field. That bip in the video is pretty big for a neighborhood ight anyway. But the truck=dick!

Actually there are a few, very young people wanting to learn the old skills
I got asked by a young photo student about film.
I showed him some of my b/w prints I did years ago
And there are still kids wanting to learn the metal and fabrication arts
I know a few young artists and pinstripers too.

I can't see a hull number obviously but I served on the USS Iowa BB61. I was the cradle operator for the center gun of Turret 3. IOW, I laid the projectile flat so that it could be rammed into the breach of the gun.

That's during an unrep (under weigh replenishment) so it's probably bosun's mates on the forward com line to the tanker.

I spent 2 years at Dahlgren Va where they test fired the 16" rifles off the battle ships over a 16 mile long section of the Potomac. The breech end concussion from one of those at 1/4 mile was impressive. I can't imagine how painful it would be in the turret itself.
