Not all B-17's survived. My last name is Bond. The pilots name was Harold A Bond Junior. Crew was able to parachute out while he held the plane steady enough, but over a village, he chose to steer it as best he could away from the buildings.

The article is in Italian. My mom while alive visited the site several times as did my sister. Bianca, who retrieved the body and if caught would have been imprisoned or worse did it so that Harold A Bond Jr could have a proper burial. She wrote my Mom with the details. The grave stone has been maintained by her family.

I used to build motorized bicycles, and the hardest part was finding a 'freewheel' or 'one way clutch' to connect whatever motor you want to use to the bike wheel, so that the bike can still be pedaled without turning the motor over. A chainsaw already has a one way clutch built in! I would have taken the bar and chain off though...

I've crossed it many times. It's been closed for a long time. It's just below the mouth of the Missouri. The Chain of Rocks is the last dam on the Mississippi. Boats have to go through the canal.

I like custom stairs, they are the reason I'm able to indulge myself in my motorcycle madness. Stairs are like really nice custom bikes, I can appreciate the craftsmanship.
