Lee Marvin was pretty much my favorite actor. I loved his work in Paint My Wagon, the first I saw in which he starred also my first date. I also liked him the TV series M Squad which also had some incredible music. But the movie I liked the most in which he starred was "Hell in the Pacific." He never spoke a word but you knew every thought he conveying to the viewer.
There was another actor like him and that was Steve McQueen and of cours Jack Nicholson all my all time favorites.

There was a dock over near the main entrance last time I was there. That was 1981 or 82. Dock could have been took out by storms. I don't know. They would rebuild it, because a lot of the supplies are brought in by park service boats. It is not much more than a one day trip. I went out of Key West on a Park Service boat. Took 4 or 5 hours, but not all day. I didn't stay there. I stayed in the lighthouse over on Loggerhead Key.

One of the Scout Dogs, sitting in the door of my plane, waiting for me to throw the chocks in so we can taxi out.
Must have been around 1971 or 1972. Not sure what base I took the picture. We flew out of 834th Air Division, Ton Sun Nhut.
C-130-E models.

According to the book, they were supposed to be in cages when transported with pax, but where the hell do you find cages at
some damn remote firebase out in the boonies? I would put the handler and the dog in last right side of the paratroop doors, and
they exited first. Never had a problem with them, but of course, everybody had sense enough to never touch the dog or the handler.
