Strangely, i have never trusted those bastids. There is an aversion for exploding ship board boilers ( land based ones as well ), add... rarely does one fall overboard and survive a rotating giant fricken paddle wheel.

Not much rudder prop wash for maneuvers that. Steering is like a drunk wife snoring like a dinosaur.

I may or may not have helmed much like this, to and fro between bars with everyone having a good time, one just has to be prepared for parking spot alignment ( Iree sense eh ) when the hood and front fender people jump off stop ... no reported casualties as of so far.

Go ahead on.......... make fun of steam power. I used to work on steam turbine powered pumps that were in use to utilize the excess steam generated by the processes of a modern chemical plant. They are powerful and reliable.

Me too. And you can use a steam pump with an auto start controller to keep your primary flows going when the electricity shuts off. Or...If you have harmonics in your piping from a set flow rate, you can use a steam pump to fine tune the system load and reduce vibrations.

When the output drops below a certain level the outgoing power shuts down. There is large control station inside the farm. Panels rotate on an axis to stay aligned with the most direct sunlight.

Large scale battery storage is in the plans to be added later.

They are all very nice reproductions and the ones that are able to fly are amazing. There are also some RC models that look really nice too. Pictures of them on the web. They would fit in my budget a lot better these days.

A few had V8 or V6 engines, but then you had to run a cooling system.

Fuel injected (gas) 12 cylinders, air cooled. Two plugs per cylinder with 4 magnetos. 3 gallons per mile. I don't remember the hull displacement. The mast was placed there for a real bang up of a reason.

Pshhh. You gotta get you a RR Vulture engine.

Advantage: 24 cylinders, 2600 cu in.

Disadvantage: Mileage irrelevant. 50/50 it will self-immolate on the first tank of fuel...
