There is a VFW Post in or near Whitehall PA (near Allentown) which has an F14 on display. They did a great job cleaning it up and wiring it for lights. If you notice the position lights are lit.

Now that is cool... thats VF-103 by the tail markings.. the Jolly Rogers!

Oh, it says it on the shark fin too... haah.

"The Ogilvy team came up with an innovative way to show the adverse impact of global climate change.

"They glued an aerial view of a city to the base of a swimming pool.

"When the pool was filled with water, it gave a shocking effect akin to a city submerged in water.

"The visual of a sunken city shocked swimmers and onlookers, driving home the impact of global warming, and how it could destroy our world someday."

The pool, completed at sports centre in Bhaktipark, Wadala, Mumbai, this year, has been so successful that HSBC is considering building more of them in cities worldwide.

These days I would have to agree, but back in the mid-late 70's this custom corvette was megacool... It was the star of its own movie!:wonderlan

A Harley Sportster and a Corvette.
I have the Harley but the Vette has been forever elusive.

I remember watching a girl walking out of the computer lab in college with about a thousand of theses cards in her hand. Whatever was holding them together broke and the strong Oswego winds scattered them immediately. She didn't even bother to attempt to pick them up. She had a look like the girl in the above post with her head on the blackboard :D. I am guessing she went and got drunk.:smoke

I used to fix both of these things. The punch card readers and punchers were a pita to maintain. Those little chads got everywhere (yes we used to have fun with them too. My boss from 30 years ago is probably still picking them out of his belongings...).

The dust from the cards is highly flammable. Something I found out on accident. The cute computer operator looked kind of funny with no eyebrows...

Ahhh, this is MY field... Loved tying up wiring harnesses with just waxed string... this is how you did it before the tie straps came along and ruined the art... wish I had pics of the wing I had to rewire after a bleed air duct clamp failed... what a mess!!! It took us close to a month just stamping wire numbers... I still remember the tail # 63-7876...:(

BTW, it that a fire suppression bottle in the background?

Cool, then you know what they have been going through for the last year or so building all the wiring harnesses. Not sure if that is fire suppression or not, but I doubt it since this is the turret compartment on the P61.

HMMM, Brings back memories. I have wired several telco switch stations, alarm panels and many other items using wax string instead of tie wraps. Yes it is and art. I still have the last roll I used on a phone switch in my shed pondering a retro computer mod.

I also have wired planes. I was part of the team that developed the wiring for the MD11 and C17 planes. I was also responsible for the cockpit simulator for both planes.

Thanks for bringing back the memories...

Broward County Sheriff's have a good sense of humor... any "unusual" car confiscated is badged and used to promote their confiscation efforts...

....

Pretty funny!

My Father in law is Ex-FBI and when I first joined the family, he took me on a ride in his newly confiscated Mercedes SLC complete with a briefcase full of white powder and cash in the trunk...

Since the FBI is allowed to ONLY buy US made vehicles, they always use the confiscated ones for undercover work.

Love the pictures, wish I could share...

Thats a long wait LOL... Its an 82'

And I usually just call it my Tundra... Just because we use it like a mini van. I tow with it and throw stuff in the bed but it will never do any hardcore off roading. Its not 4X4 either.....

But if I need/wanted an old 4X4 the K10 wouldn't be bad. Of course a Toyota Pick-up like the one from Back to the Future would be fun..

Toyota is as American made as any other company. I worked at a Toyota plant for 19+ years in Fremont California. It was actually a joint venture plant between GM and Toyota and closed it's doors when GM pulled out with no notice and left Toyota and all us 5,000 workers high and dry. Toyota footed the bill to clean up the site while GM hid under the goverments umbrella, Toyota payed us our severance package while GM hid under the governments umbrella. Toyota offered to pay for our re-training while GM hid. You get the idea. Toyota took care of us, American workers, while GM left us high and dry after decades of loyal servce. Toyota is more American than most American companys in my book.

Oh, just an FYI, up until April of 2010 every Toyota Tacoma ever made (for US market) was in California by an American work force. California is in America last time I checked. Also so were most North American bought Toyota Corollas (some were made in Canada).

Some toyota models may be made in the US, but it is still a Japanese company. Yes, employing thousands of american workers too. They took care of things when GM pulled out, including the workers and taxes.

BTW: I installed the emergency evacuation system and KanBan systems in that plant (which is now being used by Tesla BTW...). Miles and miles of wires pulled and thousands of splices. I only messed up one! (and caught it during pre-test)

^^^^ It doesn't matter. Not saying anyone here are true haters but must haters go for the $$$$ goes to Japan gimmick...

I am not corcerned with the money that goes to corperate Toyota. I care about the American workers in Toyota plants all over the USA....I am glad the my 2010 Tundra was built by Americans in Texas. Shoot the engines for the Tundra and Tacoma are build in Huntsville AL.

Yeah. If I lived closer I would apply, but it's 60 miles away (I commuted most of the 19 years I worked there). When it was GM/Toyota the commute was totally worth it, but Tesla's starting wages are less than what my starting wages were back in 1990 there. And with a 60 miles commute, cost of gas, etc, it's not worth it. Back in 1990 I was paid more and gas was only $0.77 a gallon haha. Oh well, best of luck to Tesla, I've got nothing against them. I even heard a rumor they'll be hiring more people in January and there'll be a free shuttle from Manteca (where I live) to plant. If that's true it might be worth it. Still a couple hours a day on the road, but it's free, and Tesla offers full benefits. We'll see. I have another job I'm going through the hiring process right now and hoping to get, but if it falls through I'll look into Tesla (if shuttle is real).

More American than GM, that's for sure. GM bailed, and didn't give 2 sh-ts about it's American work force. Didn't offer a single penny. Toyota took care of everyone there. Toyota made sure all the workers had a chance at landing on their feet. GM said f--k you, leave us alone.

Interesting...

I am applying there after the new year (gotta get my resume in order first). An old co-worker is rumored to be getting the IT Director position there.

I would hate that commute too. Mine is only 35 miles one way right now.

Honestly the GMC was next on my list of trucks to get if the Tundra didn't work out. Much better looking than the Chevy cousin IMO...
