I did se someone doing that on the telly once, big kudos to you,
that takes a lot more balls than just going out shooting with a big gun.

Hell no! Make no mistake, a boar this size is a killer. Its a very fair fight, odds in favour of boar. Dogs often get killed and my buddy has HUGE vet bills for his dogs, and Ive heard of guys having to escape up trees for up to 6 hours. Those tusks are sharp. When you arrive on the fight scene you have about 2 seconds to act before the pig senses humans are bad and works out an escape, usually straight through you! Smart, dangerous piggies.

No nothing like that. Just be carefull and have one eye on a tree. You can usually tell when they are gonna break. I was along for the ride, my buddy has been doing it like this with his dad since he was a kid. Your allowed to take a shotgun for safety, just in case. Wich he does, a 20 gauge. No hunting rifles allowed in private forests. You cant shoot when the dogs are on it anyway, so its always done by grab the back legs lift like wheelbarrow, reach through right hand to left front leg, pull, flip and slit. Scary shit man.

I'm guessing it's a chop. The lighting is all funky and the staircase is way off on perspective. The seam between the building foundations and mountain doesn't seem to make sense either.

You know, while I make light of them as much as anyone I really love seeing these type photos where bikes are used for mundane chores like transporting livestock or crops. 75 to 100 years ago there were similar uses in America & Europe. These photos from the developing world remind us that motorcycles still are more than just the toys they've become to most of us. Sort of reminds me of the scooter & moped guys you see riding to work in all sorts of weather because it's the only transportation they can afford. God bless em, one and all.:tour

There is one tree in my neighbor hood almost that size and a bunch of them right down the street at Big Basin State Park (California's oldest state park, and possibly where that photo was taken).

I have 45+ redwoods on my property, with the oldest one around 200 years and about half that size. Still pretty huge trees by any ones standard...

Some of them (and probably the one in the picture (The Giant Mark Twain)) are much older than that.

"Mark Twain Tree

When "Mark Twain" was cut down in 1891, the giant Sequoia was 1,341 years old and measured 331 ft (100.9 m) high and 90 ft (27.4 m) in circumference at the base. Today a stump is all that remains of the once thriving tree that might have survived another thousand years (left). The ancient tree relic is located in the Big Stump Grove of what is now the Kings Canyon National Park in Fresno and Tulare Counties along with other curiosities of the Sequoia lumbering days including a 150 year old pile of sawdust. Some cross sections of the felled Mark Twain Tree were cut for display purposes and the rest of the tree was milled for grape stakes, fence posts and shingles by the Kings River Lumber Company."

SOURCE (http://www.cathedralgrove.eu/text/05-Pictures-Politics-4.htm)

Amazing how fast they grow too. When we bought our house 18 years ago we had 2 trees that were almost a foot away from our house. 5 years later we had to have them cut down because every time the wind would blow they would move our house. I had them felled and milled, and built my Harley shed and a deck.

My house was built with redwood back in 1906-1910. When remodeling, I had to replace all of the roof framing because the wood was so hard you could not drive a nail into it and screws would just snap off if they penetrated at all.

There is a house in my neighborhood we call the "Tree Cracker House". It is a 650 square foot shack that is being lifted and crushed by a ring of redwoods. They built the house right on top of the old growth stump and never trimmed the trees as they grew.

No snow. I think the belongs in the "This is gonna hurt" thread. :p

That's why its such a great pic! In Austria were this pic was taken during a competition ,the track and landing area are used year round, they make snow and the base is refrigerated.

Like Calgary Alberta, you can bobsleigh year round also, teams come from allover the world for training.

Where I live there is a ski jump track used during the summer only, they use something similar to astro turf and run water over it continuously, makes it very slippery.

Even the handrail is not up to code. You can't have those open ends anymore. They have to be returned into the wall. Mostly so fire departments don't catch clothing or hoses on it.

265?? The flatheads were 239 cu in, there were 265s in 55 Chev/Pontiacs (although that may just be Canadian Pontiacs) for their early V8s later to become 283, 327, 350 and so on.

And yet we cant come up with a better system than our broken ass goverment. People who fly these and dont crash should get to run the goverment next. They proved their smarter. IMHO

Nah! they're probably honest, hard working people.

Actually, having a closer look at Stairman's picture it looks like a church. Perhaps they get 'help' moving stuff upstairs.:D

Yeah... no, thanks. I don't even like looking at the picture. Although I have seen pics of folks hiking that trail and that one staircase in china that goes pretty much straight up. And that trail down in Central America along the river gorge.

It would take more money that anyone would be willing to give me to get me out on that stuff.
