    father of a new born

I'm not saying that he doesnt like me, just that at the time I wrote that, he was working only on instinct. He was breastfed so he only cared about the boob. And I did understand that was normal.

Now, he's drinking formula so I feed him when I'm home and I can tell he looks at me differently. And I can now make him smile and laugh and that helps too.

    As sportygrl said:

The important thing with multiple kids, especially when they are older, is to be fair with them all. Do that and relationships grow in the right direction. As for Lucas not liking you, the thing to remember is that it is not the act of liking but the way that liking is displayed that we notice. The baby likes you, of that you can be sure. Even infants have personalities and that is something for you to accept and not to be concerned with.

I have seen and heard parents say that they treat all their kids equally. What fools!! You cannot do that. Individuals are different and respond to things differently. Some require punishment while another requires positive reinforcement. Just depends on the individual. Along those same lines, you cannot judge one according to the other ... and you certainly cannot expect the same bond between one to the other. Lucas will bond, but DIFFERENTLY. You are already bonded with him, just don't expect it to follow the same path or feel the same as you and your daughter.

Try not to take it personally, and just keep being a good dad. I'm mom to a son who is 19, and a daughter who is 16. My relationship with my son, while always loving, has not always been easy. I used to feel guilty because it was so much easier with my daughter. Now that my son is a bit older, we have a very easy and close bond. Still different from my daughter, but close nonetheless. Kids are all different, as are parents. You'll be fine, just don't overthink it.

    father of a new born

    It's been 28 year's since I was a father to a new born,
a girl who took years to bond with me!
My son [the one in the middle] also took till he was around 9 months to bond with.
All I can say Luke is look after all of them and he will start to bond with you.

Something that bothers me a little: "something American".

Well, I haven't added to this in a while so I will chime in again with some more insight. First off, unless someone can prove me wrong there is no country called "America" to begin with. Greenland, Canada, Mexico, Cuba, this entire side of the planet known as "the new world" is "America" or better yet "the Americas". You have North, Central, and South Americas and all of them are comprised of a variety of countries. The country I live in is The United States, which is often called "The United States of America" so as not to be confused with other states around the world who might be united under a common flag or government.

In light of this fact, for someone to say they are Mexican-American is more of a redundancy than an identity and exposes the ignorance of the person using the term. Someone from Brazil, for example, is already an American as well as someone from Canada.

But to the defense of the ignorant masses, it is easier to say someone from the USA is an American than a Unitedstatesian.

I heard 2 things that, in my opinion, are totally ridiculous.

    1st one: He's a Gay-American.
WTF?? Now the citizenship isnt enough, gotta add the sexual orientation too? Or if I say that I'm a Hetero-Canadian, did I just offended the gays?

    2nd: I'm an African-American American.
Another WTF?? Does that mean a Black man in the UK is an African-American Brit?

    .................................................. ...............................

And Bert, you said it, you are an American.
If you take up the Germain citizenship, then you'd be an American-Germain.

    Which is worse?

Well, having to sell something you value, and that you've made "yours" sucks... but helping others to get through truly hard times is selfless and humanitarian.... a truly good thing. But I recognise that doesn't make it any less hard to sell your bike.

    In a funk? Depressed? Whining?

I think I just need (not as much as my wife) this baby to come out and a vacation.
I've been home for 2 days now and I feel fine and somewhat rested.
I'm guessing pushing to the limit (and maybe a tad over) a bit much at work is the culprit.

Here's another thought.....it's always best to rule out something physical. This is just hypothetical......say your thyroid blew out and you have hypothyroidism....this could cause tiredness as well as depression. Perhaps think about it from this perspective.....is there something physical that needs to be looked at or ruled out as the causation of the way you are feeling. Just a thought.
