So I'm riding along on our island's one freeway today, just cruising at about 85 mph in the left lane. Traffic is light so I stay in the passing lane to overtake the odd car. There's a car coming up in my mirror and I'm preparing to move over, but before I can do that, here he comes, up on my right. I look over, and it's this...kid...in a new BMW coupe. He pulls up even with me and he's lookin'--checkin' me out... Then he makes his move--stomps on it and starts moving ahead--first by a wheel, then half a car length. He must've awakened some long forgotten reflex in me, or maybe it was those 1,200 new cubic centimeters knowing that their break-in period was over and it was time to be set free, I dunno, but when The Kid started to pull ahead I just wrapped that throttle.
Talk about your 5th gear roll-ons? I get a glimpse of the surprised expression on the kid's face, then I see him in the mirrors, then I am G-O-N-E.
"Objects in mirror are closer than they appear"? Fuhgeddaboudit.
Man, that Beemer is lookin' like two shrinking blue specks.
I come up on a clump of slower moving traffic, roll off, and get into the right lane. A moment later the Beemer comes blasting by in the passing lane.
The kid was looking right pissed off.
I suppose it was rather childish on my part. Heh-heh-heh....
Cheezits, man, here I am about to turn 63 this month, and I'm still having fun beating up on rich kids. I should know better. I'm so ashamed.
I guess some things never change.

    Shame on you.

This summer, on one of my few rides, I caught up to this guy in is 911 Turbo on a free of traffic country road.
He was doing 130 (km/h) or so.
And saw his smile disappear when I passed him.
And when I made him go a buck and a half to pass me back, he looked a little mad.
