hope that by posting what's on my mind occaisionally, I can get to know XLforum folks better, and share both motorcycle thoughts and non-moto thoughts and thereby communicate, making the world a better place (lol), blah blah blah....

managed to shake myself awake enough to ride in this a.m.
Its hardddddddd sometimes - my brain just wants to stay in sleep mode.
I really DO want to buy less gas from Da Man tho, and riding the bike in to work is one way to accomplish that at least a bit.
Plus its good to have the feeling of the bike not just sitting waiting for Sunday rides.
I know that's a real foreign concept to some folks who ride 24-7.
But DANG I just have a hard time WAKING up enough to ride all the time.

I dunno how some people do it. Some people by the time they hit the roadways in the morning are like killer bees in their intensity and aggression.
Thinking maybe they get up, say 2 hours early and play video games and drink coffee before work?
Or do crystal meth, even, lol???
they're like bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.......
like fierce madmen who watch too much NASCAR, and some mornings on the bike, I just can't deal with it.

So when I ride the bike in, I go the back way, down through the ghetto. (which used to be the old neighborhood where I was born, btw, before it was a ghetto)
Good thing about the ghetto/'hood is that hey! no one is even awake at 6:30 a.m. so its clear sailing for the most part through there.
Bad road surfaces though and stuff you have to watch out for, but much safer than trying to get on the interstate with a bunch of tweakin' aggro madmen.

Sure the bike is an inanimate object, so its really my brain that's talking....cuz I could swear when I ride her in, she's happy about it.
She's like "Sporty's made to run! let me run, please! even if we never get out of 2nd gear! Please ride me to work".

I never did have a more willin' bike than this blue Sportster.

Like some bikes are grouchy if you try to get em to go 1st thing. They're like WTF??? leave me alone, bitch! you're gonna have to tickle the HELL out of my carb if you think you're gonna prod ME to life. Or, you're gonna have to CRY before I start!
I like that kind, the bike that makes you actually shed a tear before it'll start.
That was long ago tho...grouchy 'ol kickstart bikes.

ah, life is good, I hope next time I bitch someone hits me over the head with a bat... and says WAKE UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! there ARE roses to smell, dammit!
lol.

Oh! and I got NEW BOOTS!

Before when I rode in I was wearing sneakers and that made me nervous. Reason was, I didn't want to wear heavy boots all day at work.
So I'm always pretty much looking for an excuse to buy boots. Got some old fashioned looking Dickies work boots. 6 inch lace-ups, the kind with the white soles. I love them! They are so light weight - almost like sneakers, but with ankle and toe protection.
Very comfy and in some way I like it that they don't look like bike boots.

I'm just a worker on her way to work! In work boots!

Wishing you a great day....
Em and the willin' blue bike,
Tampa

I hate morning people...I'm much happier sleeping till noon. Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to fit in with the rest of the world. I'm fortunate (I guess) in that I only have a 4 mile commute, no interstate and only one way to go (no choices). So riding is not a big deal. Although, I'd probably ride more often if I lived further away (I don't ride in the rain because it's just not worth putting on rain gear for 4 miles).

see that's what I should do! Shower in the a.m instead of at night, and hang around and drink coffee, etc, watch the news. But I can't stand to be home at that time. I'm having to force myself to even move.
Looks like I might ride in tomorrow again, too!
I do love the idea that I can get to work and back 3 times on one gallon of gas.

I think the reason I get out of the house quickly is that my dogs kinda like "guilt trip" me if I stay too long.
Like they whine NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! you may NOT go to work, Mommie!
    NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!.....

"Wake Up Little Suzy, Wake Up!"

Hey, be careful out there: My closest brush with motorcycle death came about when I was feeling dozey. I figured the ride would wake me up--adrenaline and wotnot. I didn't figure on the oncoming F-350 in my lane right at the apex of a blind corner. WOW! Did THAT ever wake me up!!!! Since then I won't ride unless I'm feeling fully alert and alive, cos I'd like to stay that way for quite a while longer.
