Every damn day I would go into the workshop to do anything I would try not to look at the ’69 sportster on the stand with its guts all hanging out on the concrete. An old fry pan holding motor oil with a layer of sawdust sat underneath. The sportster didn’t blink. But I couldn’t help but feel ashamed for tearing up that transmission three years earlier. And even more ashamed for not putting her back together.
I knew that one day, it would all wait and the priority would be to put...

Needed to work on a Saturday and decided to take the sportster. It was a cooler morning. Just a few degrees but noticeable due to a drop in humidity. The sun was trying to come up when I left.
Not wanting to wake up the whole family, I didn't give it the usual minute or two to warm up. A younger me would have pushed it up the road a bit before kicking it. Funny how the amount of consideration can go down when it is just too much effort. But I did get on down the road quick and did...

Took a short ride today before dark down Meridian Road just south of the GA FL line. Went down to the Bull Headley landing where the water is just starting to come back with the 15 inches of rain we have had in the past 4 weeks.
The 69 was a little hesitant at first and then smoothed out. A mild pull of the throttle gave a good throaty growl and it really wanted to keep going.
When I left the landing I decided to wind it up a little more than usual and held third up...
