Canopy Road ridin'

Took a short ride today before dark down Meridian Road just south of the GA FL line. Went down to the Bull Headley landing where the water is just starting to come back with the 15 inches of rain we have had in the past 4 weeks.
The 69 was a little hesitant at first and then smoothed out. A mild pull of the throttle gave a good throaty growl and it really wanted to keep going.
When I left the landing I decided to wind it up a little more than usual and held third up to about 55. It didn't want to hit 4th. Not sure why. It even moved the shift lever up about an inch. I let up and then found the gear.
The rest of the ride home was cooler. The sun was going down and the trees were trying to cool things down a little too. So glad I took the drag bars off and replaced them with buckhorns. I just sat back and enjoyed the ride through the trees.
I tightened up the shift lever when I got home. And my mind was cleared.
