I have/had this friend, used to be my best friend. He was my best man at my wedding.
We were college buddies. When I fell on hard times (because of my own stupidity), he and his family opened their house for me till I got back on my feet.

Because of work, I move away and eventually got married and stayed away. But we used to call each other and when we could get together, it was as I had never left.

But I grew up, matured a bit and he hasn't. He still got a hard time keeping a job, drinks too much, smokes too much weed.

When his Mom died, I never got a call. Same when his Dad passed. Again no call when he was sentenced to 6 months for a DUI.

Don't matter, I still called him for his birthday (1 week before mine) this past summer. I told him I was going to be at my Dad's for my birthday and be there for a week. We made plans to meet and stuff.
When I got to my Dad's, I called him, no answer, left a message. Next day, same. Day after that, went to his place, no one, left another voice mail.

Never heard from him. That was the last week of July. When I got home from that trip, I unfriended him on Facebook and blocked him. Deleted him from my phone and generally felt like I had been dumped.

Yesterday, phone rings and it's him. I hit "ignore". The message he left me was that he had just checked his voice mail and was returning my call. 3 months late.
The tone of his voice wasn't event apologetic or awkward, just him being his usual nonchalant self.
That really pissed me off. I wasn't pissed about the situation before but now I am.

He's called maybe 10 times since and I never picked up. Don't feel like it.

I realized I'm acting very chick-like but I don't care, he can go f@#k himself.

No one needs friends like that. Surround yourself with positive, good friends and your life will be much more positive and good.

Luke, has the phone calls finally stopped? Don't get caught up in something you really have no cotrol over. Sometimes we just have to move on. Best wishes.

Yes Paul, the phone stopped ringing.
I'm moving on and when I move on I rarely burn the bridge but I avoid said bridge like the plague.

My sediments exactly, not always the easiest path, but usually the one of less stress! Best of luck!
