The Sportster and Buell Motorcycle Forum - The XLFORUM® Rules

PLEASE READ THIS BEFORE REGISTERING

Business names and website URLs are not allowed as usernames. Usernames of this type will be deleted or modified by the Admins.

Commercial advertising of any kind is not authorized except by supporting vendors. This includes, but is not limited to, discussions of your commercial products or services. Only authorized vendors are authorized to solicit business on The XL Forum

We do not accept AOL email addresses, since email to these address just clog up our email server. If you have one of these email addresses please register with a gmail.com, hotmail.com, or yahoo.com email address.

Unfortunatly there are Internet Service Providers like AOL, SBCGLOBAL, Comcast, BellSouth, Ameritech, Frontier Net, and others that treat email from The XL Forum as SPAM and will place it in your SPAM or BULK email folder, or not deliver it at all. This will also happen with some free email services like Hotmail or Yahoo depending on how you have your email service configured.

The XL Forum WILL NEVER send out SPAM. If your subscribe to a thread then you will receive an email from xlforum.net to notify you when someone posts in the thread. This is how a forum works. On any email you receive from xlforum.net there is a link near the bottom to UNSUBCRIBE from the single, or all, threads so you will not receive email from xlforum.net. There is also a bulletin sent our once or twice a month which you will be automatically subcribed to. You can unsubcribe from this bulletin at anytime by editting your profile in the USER CP. There is also a link on the bulletin that will take you to the correct part of the the USER CP to unsubcribe.

Post only on the appropriate board.
Refer to the descriptions of each catagories particular focus. Please keep your posts relevant, and refrain from posting the same information on multiple Categories. Repeat offenders are subject to administrative action. "Spamming" the boards will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Clearly state your subject.
Posts that that are titled; "Need Help" or "Have a Problem" will be be renamed or removed without warning to the author. Many people will not read your post if you give it an unclear subject title. Forum moderators may change the title of your post if it is not clear.

Be courteous to other users.
Controversy is welcome as long as it presented with civility and maturity. As per the terms of the user agreement, you agree not to post any abusive, obscene, vulgar, slanderous, hateful, threatening, racist, overly sexually-oriented, strictly political or religious, or any other material that may violate any applicable laws. Repeat offenders are subject to administrative action. Name calling, serious threats, and "flame wars" will not be tolerated under any circumstances.

Expect differing opinions.
If you post asking people for their feedback, be prepared to hear both positive and negative views. That is what message boards are for. If you can't stand to hear somebody say they don't like your motorcycle, don't ask what people think about it.

Do your research.
Newbies are always welcome. This entire site is dedicated to moving knowledge from those who have it to those who don't. However, before posting a question, check the FAQ, How-To Pages, etc. Also remember to Search before you post. A wealth of information is available with minimal effort, and many links are provided on this site.

Do not share software or other copyrighted materials.
THE XL FORUM is not the appropriate forum for breaching User agreements and Software Licenses. As per most software licenses, other than a read-only backup copy, you may not make or distribute copies of the software, or electronically transfer the software from one computer to another or over a network. Do not request other members to provide you with electronic copys of any Harley-Davidson (or other companies) manuals. Offenders are subject to administrative action.

Company and Comercial product reviews
You may review your experiences with any company AND post a link to their website so long as you are reviewing the quality of their goods and services and making suggestions to other members AND NOT trying to make a sale with the rest of the XL FORUM members on YOUR products. You CAN post your products or services in the XL Classifeds and a commercial website in the XL Link sections.

Do not post links to your raffles, pyramid marketing, or similar type websites without first obtaining permission from an administrator.

Please report all violations to any of the Forum Moderators or Site Administrators.
