Idle Mixture Needle Mod

I fitted the CCP (now John's Cycle Parts) EZ-Just idle mixture needle:

You can get them from J&P Cycles too.

This replacement needle makes it so much easier to adjust the idle mixture! I made a little modification to mine. I added a spigot to the face of the knob, to make it easier to turn. Well, to count the turns really. I screwed the needle in all the way (gently seating it), and marked the side nearest the air cleaner (right of bike). I then took the needle out again and drilled and tapped (10 BA) for the spigot I'd made:

Cool! Folkie, kind of like one of them steering wheels in a cage for a handicap person.

Well that's just about the freakin coolest thing I've seen so far this (shitty) day.

I just marked the knob so I'd know where it was........

Also after you're all done getting your mixture set, put a dab of RTV on the screw (partly on carb body, partly on mixture screw) so it doesn't vibrate out.

Not really necessary if you've only gone 3 - 3½ turns out. If you're at more than that, change to the next biggest slow jet.

Equals this:

I bought some 3/16" brass tubing and a knurled nut from Ace hardware. If you accidently get solder in the threads, clean them up with a M6X.8 die.

Total parts cost; $1.98
EZ-just cost; $29.99
Savings; $28.01 = 7.39 gallons of gas = 370 miles of riding. :banana

That's a nice job! Now all you need is to do my mod to that knurled nut.

Aha..... I knew I came to the right place. Thanks for all the suggestions. I chose to order the EZjust from Johns. Thanks for suggestion. I liked all the neat mods too.

Cool mods Folkie and Tchuck. I took the easy way out and used a marker on my EZ just screw but yours sure looks cooler.:)
