This bearing separator and gear puller set has worked for everthing I've come across so far, though I haven't pulled this particular one. I even rigged it up to press my flywheels out of the case.

Yes a bearing separator is the best thing to use on timken type bearings, has always worked for me.

Special tools

Here is my new countershaft bearing setting tool. I cut it tonight to set the depth and install the countershaft bearing. I center drilled and tapped it to accept an extension OR just use it as a press tool. I shouldered it to set the depth correctly for the oiling channel

We are starting to have photos and videos disappear off of this thread. Any reccomendations on where to put these photos so they dont go away in the future?

Are the Member galleries permanent? Is there a central gallery on this forum to store stuff like this?

Chris

Clutch Tool

During a recent clutch rebuild, I made up a rig like the one Hopper devised in the first post of this thread. Now that I'm through with the "tool" and have discarded it, I want to make a more permanent one like the commercial versions, but needless to say, I neglected to record the dimensions between the upper left and lower right 1/4-20 holes in the primary. I THINK I remember 10 1/8", but can't be sure. Does anyone happen to have that dimension or have the primary cover off and could get it for me? Also, I seem to recall that the center hole in the tool is not exactly in the center, but 5 1/2" from the upper left hole. Any help would be appreciated.

THANKING YOU, PATRICK!!!!!!! I thought I did a thorough search of that thread.
Is this a great site, or what? I just got my '81 bobber on the road after almost a year.
