Is the problem with alignment of the bolt (perpendicular) to the hole? Or a problem of the threads?

Take the locking nut off the old adjuster & see that it easily threads onto the new adjuster - To prove the threads on the new adjuster are the same pitch as the old one...

Then look at the threads of the hole in the case to be sure they are not damaged.

I believe there is a proper direction to place the adjuster in the cover - I believe the nylon cover is pressed onto the steel plate - The side from which it is pressed onto the steel plate should go toward the primary cover.

This should prevent that nylon cover, in an extreme case, from sliding off (not likely) into the primary cavity.
