Default My 07 XLC 1200 with Springer seat and much more...

Okay, I have seen quite a few posts on springer seats for 07 and up Sportsters with power commanders etc. There have been a bunch of questions on how to hide or relocate all of the electronics and I had the same issues so I would like to post up some pics of what we did.

First I will show a before picture. I bought the bike last year brand new and this is the picture.

Now here is an after of the whole bike.

Now here is the springer seat mods. First we built a custom fender that I rode on for awhile before deciding to go with the springer seat. We then had to cut the fender and weld a piece of metal in front of the tire so we could slide some of the electronics down without worrying about the tire. Now, after this was done I still didnt have room so we cut the bars under the seat to make a little more room. I still had issues with the power commander and the rear light connection PCB. We took off the battery cover and literally extended it all 1 1/2". That gave us plenty of room. I did have to rewire alot of the electronics because the wires just wouldnt reach. We then made a larger bracket for the battery and welded on some tabs to connect the battery cover so I wouldnt have to use the ziptie mod to hold it on anymore. After that we cut out a piece of metal to cover the electronics and then bolted on my custom seat. I think it turned out pretty good. Tell me what you think.

Great Job! Now that's the style I really dig. You guys with your winter projects, that's why i have so much trouble trying to keep up while living in the south west. While i'm riding you guys are chopping. I don't know which is the better end.

Think this was the biggest challenge we incountered in the shop, so i'm sure you had your share of fun too. You can notice my ECM zip tied right in front of the rear fender. in other areas I just used molding tape and velcro to get things to stick to the battery. Cover still fits without a problem. there are wires shooting all the way down my the front part of my rear fender but they're out of sight.

Yeah, I wish I could have just zip tied mine but my rigid struts dropped the bike 4" so I really didn't have much room to play with there.

By the way I live in Texas so I understand about the riding vs. winter projects. Luckily this only took two weekends and I could still ride during the week.
