Default uni air filter and oil and stuff

I could sure use some advice.
It all started when I decided to do one thing for my other bike, and that was change the air filter. NOT upgrade, just change it. A new clean one instead of the old dirty one.
I got the local indy guy up the street to change the oil, put new tires on, etc.

I'm female, and I have had issues in the past with wrenches.

So I go to J&P online and order what I thought was a factory paper replacement. I guess I was half asleep or something because thats not what I got. I didn't pay any attention to the name of the filter; I just figured that it costing $37.00 and fitting my bike was good enough and on target.
The bike: 2001 Kawasaki Vulcan 800A
So it arrives, it fits fine. Installation was a breeze. I felt so good that I did it myself. I did notice that it was foam, and the old one I threw away was paper.
Oh well, viva la difference, right?
Then I read that little paper that comes with it. The one that mentions "oiling".
Then it kinda all clicks.
So, I got some questions.

Can I put (spray) some K&N filter oil on that foam filter?
Should I be concerned about too much air coming in now and having to re-tune the carb?
I would like to use it, since I've opened it. Sending it back may not work now.

Thanks.

Uni Filter has been around a long time

They may have an oil for that filter and the K&N oil might not like foam !

A local dirt bike shop would have foam filter oil - sticky stuff.

You could probably treat it like a lawnmower for now, and use motor oil which isn't sticky, but should clean up when you get the right stuff for it. You pour a couple of ounces on it in a plastic bag and squeeze it to distribute the oil evenly.

I did a search and there is a UNI kit, like K&N has a cleaning/oiling kit.

You're welcome! I Googled and found a couple ads from $15 or so.

My old RamFlo had Belray oil which was really sticky stuff.
