Here’s an interesting insight from a dinosaurs perspective. I was studying the power package on the Pan Am and thought to myself-damn, I wouldn’t want to have to wrench on that bad boy. Makes me really appreciate the simplicity of our older models.

It is relatively simple. Are you confusing my 2015 R9T with the newer opposed twin BMW's which are water cooled with variable valve timing?

Mine is the traditional boxer, still air cooled but with dohc 4 valve heads. No water cooling or variable valve timing. Pretty simple, particularly with the cylinders sticking out for easy access.

Is there some reason you think my owning an R9T prohibits me from appreciating the air cooled Sportsters' simplicity?
It was a big factor in my buying one.

FWIW my R9Ts' crankshaft is holding up just fine. It's a very durable engine.

I did go, no I did not ride it. But I did a few weeks ago. It was pretty crowded. I did like it handles very well and had plenty of powers even with the smaller motor.See my post above.

Guy brought one by the shop today. Sharp green metal flake paint job. Had forwards but he had factory mids coming for it. Got rid of the fugly exhaust and replaced it with a 2 bros. Improved it immensely. Nice bike.

if Yammy did so many years ago... reverse engineering an US technology.... Mo.Co. did not made it nowadays
more simple and cheaper developing a metric modern engine... charged in prices fully up for customers

like the Dire Straits went on... money for nothing... (without chicks for free)

that's so bad in my opinion

Guzzi, BMW, Triumph... they kept their philosophy overtime on their v twins... 'cause they want to invest money on that

i am not a fan of adventure bikes (i have had enough many years ago)
but actually they did a good job of that bike...
a good package of content
they also lured customers that despised HD till then
ever much overpriced (at least overhere)
ever a metric bike
