Default KT - 2019 - Done Riding - Not Hardly

This thread will have some pics of my rides this year - with most of the pictures and my ride reports being posted at
My Motorcycle Chronicles website: >>HERE<<

BIG JAKE

One of my favorite John Wayne movies (there are many) is Big Jake. He plays Jacob McCandles against the nemesis, John Fain, played by Richard Boone. The movie also stars Wayne's own sons, Patrick Wayne as James McCandles and Ethan Wayne as his grandson. His two other on-screen sons are played by Christopher Mitchum (Robert Mitchum's son) as Michael and Bobby Vinton as Jeff. Maureen O'Hara is cast as his estranged wife, Martha.

Jake's grandson is kidnapped and his estranged wife wants him to deliver 'what they asked for'. Because he has been away from his ranch for so long, when he identifies himself as Jacob McCandles in the movie, a lot of people respond, "I thought you was dead". To which Jake responds, "Not Hardly".

=================================================

Untypically, I actually got to enjoy a January 1 ride. It was 53° today with a partially cloudy sky. I decided to ride to Gettysburg. This picture is of the monument to Major General Slocum. He played a decisive role during the battle. The monument is near Culp's Hill just off Slocum Avenue.

As usual, I had to also get a picture of the great farmland in this area.

Lotsa towns around and west of Philadelphia have British parallel names - Most of them settled long before we went our separate ways in 1776...

In this case, Fleetwood appears to have been founded in 1815... And the wiki says "Fleetwood, also called Schlegelschteddel in Deitsch, is a borough in Berks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 4,085 at the 2010 census." And, as you noted, "Fleetwood is twinned with the town of Fleetwood in Lancashire, in the United Kingdom." So, I'm not sure of the roots...

I haven't been to Fleetwood (that I recall) but spent some time in that area back in the 70's...

Fleetwood, Lancashire was a little later, in the 1830s. It was the first planned town of the Victorian era. Fleetwood Sea Cadets would always visit Fleetwood Pennsylvania during their trips to America

Nice Ken, we’ll have to make an attempt to share some road this year for sure! You looked at the 2019 Meet n Greet thread?

I posted #17 of that thread - Since it looks like Canaan Village is the chosen location - If the weather runs better this year, I'm planning to ride down on Thursday and ride back on Friday...

BRRRrrrrrrrr!

I was inside the house keeping warm - It's 26° outside.

But I kept hearing this sound coming from my garage.

When I went to investigate, I found KT sitting by the door wimpering and looking wistfully out on the snow covered driveway.

I patted the tank a few times, made some Vrooom-Vrooom sounds, and closed the door.
(just 65 more days until Spring... It seems like forever...)
