My first bike was a little Honda 50, one with the knobby wheel barrow tires. Used it to pull a wagon loaded with my tools when I worked in a salvage yard after school and summers as a teenager.
My first street bike was a KZ400. I put 100,000 miles on that bike and sold it for the same amount I paid for it. Didn't want to sell it, but starting a family and had bills to pay.
The Sportster was a friend's wife's bike, and when she passed he put it up for sale. I'd ridden the bike a couple times when I was up visiting them and was impressed with it, so I bought it.

Yup my first bike is Hámundr, a 2014 Iron 883. Coincidentally, this is my first post here.

I've done a few minor changes since these shots were taken, mostly blacking out more bits.

Bought it used, had about 3k miles, chopped fender, Vance and Hines exhaust, drag bars, EJK, tank swapped and lifted.

Added: brake strobe, the MOLLE bags and headlight grill.

Swapped: air filter, covers (derby / timing / etc.) and grips.

Relocated speedo, and currently have removed the heat shields to paint even more black. (V&H color is more gray than black.)

Just bought the Biltwell Speedway seat, and I'll have to put a new hole in the fender to mount it.

Looking to add a sissy bar but will have to have one made due to the chopped fender & struts. Recommendations appreciated!

Also planning on painting the tank, swapping the mirrors, wire wrap and tuck, and more black-out.

(Edited to add more details.)

I'm guessing most of the YES votes were from people wanted a Harley more than a Sportster.
I'm one of the NO votes and have never considered getting a Harley but started considering a Sportster after riding for over 30 years. I'm riding my first Sportster and I don't think I will ever get rid of it. If I did, it would be replaced by another Sportster. I still don't want a Big Twin. They're nice, but they just aren't the same thing.
