2005 Speedo Options
I'm an amateur wrencher, and very new to working on the Harley platform. I have a 2005 XL1200C and would like to replace the riser along with the speedometer. I would like to not break the bank on just a speedo and am looking to spend around $100-200. I found a few options, but I'm not quite sure if they will work, as I've read on sportsterpedia that "Beginning in 2004, the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS) feeds its pulses to the ECM (not directly to the speedometer)". Any information on installing these aftermarket speedos to a 2005 would be handy.
"VELONA" ELECTRICAL SPEEDOMETER 140MPH/KMH, BLUE LED
Biker's Choice Electronic LED Mini Speedo Gauge
48mm Deco Mini Electric Speedometer -I believe these two are the same
TNT‑01S multifunction speedometer
I would also like to know how one goes about programing the odometer on an aftermarket speedo. Is this something I have to take to Harley to get done? Any information is appreciated.

WELCOME TO THE XLFORUM!
For 2004-2013, the ECM, TSM & Instruments communicate thru the Serial Data Bus.
If the replacement speedometer is not capable of utilizing that communications link, then it is likely intended to use an external wheel rotation sensor to feed motion information to the Speedometer.
Most of the lower-priced aftermarket electronic speedos provide and use a wheel sensor.
The speedo will allow you (not the dealer) to set the mileage in some one-time procedure to carry forward the odometer reading from your previous speedo.
Many of the available speedos have instructions available for download so you can see what is necessary to install & use that model instrument.
