Talking Islanders unite!

A "mature" thread, but I just found it.
I ride the "VI".
I know another member or two who are also Islanders.
Considering the worldwide popularity of the XLF, I'm surprised
there are not more members here. We've got plenty of Sportsters
on this rock.
Every time I meet one I tell the owner about the forum.
Anyone else out there?

BTW-- Happy Thanksgiving!

Thumbs up I'm STILL here!!

Oh, I'm still here! I (wisely, as it turned out) let my insurance lapse in early November, cos we've not had much riding weather since
.
In early December I was driving The Wife's Mazda 5 when it got totalled out from under me. Ended up doing a couple spinnaramas and 2-1/4 rolls before ending on the starboard beam-ends in a soggy ditch. Whew. I walked (OK, staggered) away from the wreck. All the "crumple zones" were crumpled, but the passenger cabin remained intact. Not even a broken window. Those safety engineers have been doing their homework!
The rear (liftgate) window was blown out and Keeta, The Family Dog bailed at some point.
Yeah--The Dog (50#)-- No seatbelt, no airbag--she must've been rattling/bouncing around the cabin when all the spinning and rolling was going on. The next day she was a bit stiff and sore, but by day 3 she was back to chasing squirrils again! As for me, nothing broken, but I was really stiff and sore for about 2 weeks or more. Go figure.

Othe than that, I've been putting a lot of my time into music--mostly jamming and practicing for the spring/summer season.

Lately I've been thinking about getting the bike back on the road. I do miss the riding. I find it's good for my mental health--cos if I ain't ridin' then I start to get depressed and irritable and that's just no fun at all.

if you gonna crash, a car is what you want to do it in, for sure. glad you and yours are ok.

the sample rate for vehicle accidents really hits home here. how often do people you actually know in 'real' life have accidents or simply crash? i guess that's what happens when you are hanging out in v-life with people who are gathered solely because they operate a motor vehicle.

.....never too late too ride.

I've been trying to ride at least once a week and I think I only have maybe one stretch that went 2 weeks without all winter. This pm is beautiful! I shoulda got out but have other shit goin on. I'm hoping to ride to work tomorrow but I'm not holding my breath as the grove and along Cameron lake can be crappy on the best days.

ps. Glad you're ok Sporty. Maybe stick with 2 wheels.
