Default Riding in the rain

Do you ride in the rain? I'm not talking about gearing up to ride in the rain just to ride in the rain.

I don't mind the rain so much. I will ride in it if it starts while I am on the bike, sometimes I will go out even if it is raining. I find some sort of joy in it at times.

Back in the day in college, my bike was my only transportation so I didn't really have any choice. Never really liked it that much, so now that I ride only for enjoyment, I'll avoid rain when I can. Doesn't really bother me that much if I get caught in it, however. If the weather is "iffy" I'll probably take the chance rather than pass up a chance to ride.

I live in the Northwest, frequently called the Northwet. To add insult to injury, I live in the mountains. Therefore, riding it the rain is just what happens. Not my favorite, but it often leads to wonderful days on the road.

I carry rain gear always. If I know it is going to rain or it is raining when I leave, I wear gortex hiking boots. When leaving for a week or more of riding, I take a nylon boot cover and wear my regular and comfortable but not waterproof riding boots. I also have a nylon waterproof mitt than slides over my gloves. I have been wet and know how important it is to stay dry, especially on an all day ride.

Now I take advantage of every sunny warm day I can, but life sometimes gets in the way on those weekends, so one learns to just hope it does not snow.

Riding in the rain is just not as much fun as a nice dry road
BUT with some Gortex boots and a fullface helmet its Much better than driving a car. So I ride when ever I dont need to carry to much stuff.

Edit. if its cold and wet and I dont have to go, I may choose to stay in front of the fire.

In my youth my 81XL was my primary transportation. And FL rain is inevitable.
Now that I am older and wiser, I wont head out if its raining but if I got to get home I will. Thats what rain suits are for.

Yes, and sometimes will gear up and head out even if it's already been raining! Infact, our 2008 Ironbutt Saddlesore had rain for the first 900 miles.

Yup, I ride pretty much rain or shine to work, although if there is major flooding I'll take the truck.

Rain or shine if its a work/school day. If its for a leisure ride I avoid the rain.

That being said, rain riding is FUN!!
