Default Dynojet Target Tune and/or autotune with PV

I just finished installing the engine upgrade kit in my 2019 Iron 883 and will be reaching out to Hammer for a base tune soon. Having said that, I would like to know if I would really benefit from purchasing a Target Tune? If so, should I autotune with the PV first to get the low to mid range cruising dialed in and then swap out the narrowband o2 sensors for the TT? I have searched high and low for a TT for the 2019 Iron, but it seems that they only list them for up to 2018 Irons. Was there a change between the 2018 and 2019 Iron, or are they the same, as far as running TT with PV? Thanks

If you’re tuning in the VE tables yourself I would highly recommend getting the auto tune kit with widebands sensors. Especially for the those high rpm, high load areas.

Get your updated tune from Hammer before doing the heat cycles.
Send them a copy of your original tune following their instructions.
http://www.hammerperf.com/ttinstallkit.shtml#Tuning
So email a copy of your original tune to us. To retrieve the original tune using your Powervision, go to Program Vehicle [accept],
Load Tune, Load Copy, Load Copy of Original.
It will let you put a copy of the original tune into one of the slots.
Then pull that tune over to the PC using the USB cable and WinPV, save it as a .pvt file, and email it.

What exhaust are you running?

The PV Auto Tune and Target Tune use 18mm wideband O2 sensors.

The stock HD exhausts from 2014 on come with 12mm O2 sensors.

You would have to either drill and tap the exhaust for 18mm sensors or weld on another O2 sensor bung with the stock exhaust.

Thanks for the information on stock map retrieval Shanneba. I have the new V&H stainless steel upsweep 2-1 exhaust that was just released a couple of months ago. It does have 18mm bungs and/or the option to install reducers if I decide to stick with the stock O2 sensors. I am going to call Dynojet today to see if they offer an Autotune Pro or Target Tune for the 2019 Iron since I am only seeing them for up to 2018 Irons.

FYI, just in case there anyone else with a 2019 Iron that is interested, I spoke with Dynojet today and confirmed that the TT-7 which shows to be compatible with 2014-2018 Iron 883 Sportsters, will work on the 2019 Iron.

Hi,
All that Shanneba has told you is correct. I will add that the tune for the TT will aslo need to be Target Tune enabled. If you have to pick between Auto tune pro or Target tune, apparently TT can do everything the Auto tune pro can and more. I have had the TT for a coulpe of years now. Ride safe.

Thanks guys! I'll pull the original tune as soon as I get the correct 6-pin cable (my PV came with a 4-pin connector).
