I don't know anything about a "specialized" socket. I've rebuilt my forks twice (to replace seals.) without one. Go with OEM style seals as o the "reduced stiction" seals didn't last as long.

1200S Rebuild Help Thread
Hello everyone. My name is Paul. I’ve started a build thread at http://xlforum.net/forums/showthread.php?t=2078883. To make a very long story short I’m trying to rebuild a 2000 1200S which has been taken apart basically completely. I’m starting this thread in hopes that some folks may want to follow along and help a newbie out. I’m going to post the questions and issues I’m having one by one as I get to them. There will be a lot of them. If there are people that would find it entertaining to help me figure out how to complete this bike I would appreciate it incredibly. I can’t tell you how much I want this bike.
