Default Oil hungry Iron Heads

Now I realize Harleys may have a reputation for leaks but this?!?
A lesser man might feel insulted to think he's expected to buy Harley oil by the drum... or that H-D knows the problem well enough to package it this way.

LOL.

Yeah, if it's time to start ordering oil for my Ironhead by the 55 gallon drum, I MIGHT start thinking it's time for a little repair, or maybe even a rebuild of some kind. Ha!

some ironheads use a trailer with an electric pump to top off the bag. some can use a st. bernard pack with a sight glass on a rack. some take advantage of the situation and hire out to the state during peak mosquito season. one dude tried to pull the smoke screen for the super bowl players entry but they got sick and his insurance told him no more.

probably no more but since i used the same oil in several units, i got the oil in drums at 50 cents a quart direct from a supplier, forget the retailer.

That works IF you can find who the supplier is. These days everything is reboxed or relabeled so you only have Harley's p/n.
I once had a list of every seal, bearing, bushing and electrical component in a Iron Head. Only thing I could never find outside were the different dia. rollers for the case side crankshaft bearing.
I went to a local supplier for the Torrington cam bearings and remember all eight were cheaper than the price of one from Harley.
