now if you just add the 1250 kit to the same cams, etc, then you're not going to see the drastic results,, but if you properly apply the criteria to maximize performance then the 1200 can by no means achieve what is available to the 1250..

it's been shown to have engines over 120hp with 1250cc..
it's been difficult to get a 1200 over 100hp..
So, please enlighten us. What is the exact difference. Why is the 1250 kit so good ?

The "EXACT" difference is a 4% increase in displacement.. but whats done with that displacement is what the difference is.. and there is no exact because certain parts work better one way vs another.. but more so adds a couple more % to the equation due to the larger bore opening up the area around the valves and giving better breathing..

spend a little time on some of the conversion threads and you'll soon learn why the 1250 is the way to go if you want to create a high end high performance sporty without splitting cases..

we have two great vendors of the 1250 kits and their respective pages have lots of info..

in alphabetical order..

You can get the Branch Okeffe kit at the dealers but, the 3500$ Hammer and NRHS charge just get doubled and add another 3000$ to have the dealer install those kit; not sold over the counter. The stage 4 Screamin Eagle B-O will get you at 115 hp with the 575cams for a 10000$ bill.

I rather hammer it for 3500$ myself and go for 120 HP on 883 heads.

And the most cool part sportster ever had was those clutch cover that say sportster back in the sixty, nothing cooler than those.

Now, this sounds interesting. What is that about, I mean the 883 heads breathing better ?

Think that 883 heads can be made to breath AS WELL AS 1200 heads with a lot of work. Not better
