I am curious to know if you notice more cam or cam gear noise than with the standard cams?

I reduced the engine noise that had been irritating me from when the bike was new. I took the engine apart and measured clearances in the main bearings. Had the inner ring on the sprocket side coated to reduce the clearance from C5 to C3.
Coated the piston skirts with a special paint (from Germany) to reduce clatter.
Runs quieter now and with longer bearing life expectancy.
Switched back to the W cams from Hammer 570 to get rid of the cam gear noise.
In regards to mechanical noises it is now a very quiet and smooth running Sportster 1275.

Ohlins on the rear, progressives in the front and spending the time to tweak the suspension to my weight. Took 4 days of fork oil changes and preload adjustments to get it C.O.B.B approved.

I'm not the best to tell you, running an open three inches K&N open air filter lets lots of noises come out. LOL

I didn't note a change from the D cams, 883R.

I run a 1977 2 into 1 modified exhaust and the bike sound like a angry animal.

On the 85...gotta say Race Tech suspension front and rear, 2 into 1 and Mikuni flat slide.
