Default 86-90 cam cover vent hose.

What do other owners do with the cam cover vent hose. I run a small crankcase filter off the case cover. Do you run your cam cover vent hose back to air cleaner or run a small filter or vent to the ground? I get a little bit of blowby, maybe I need a longer hose and raise it higher. Don't really want to vent into AC. All opinions appreciated. Thanks Roger

A lot of folks just run the hose over to where it would drip on the chain.
You will get a little bit of blowby from time to time.
You do not want a filter on the hose or anywhere on the crankcase vent.
All it will do is collect oil/condensation, leak oil and stop up.
Then you start blowing gaskets up top.
Best to check the condition of the rubber umbrella valve inside the cam cover for hardening.
Replace it if it's hardened and just run the hose with no filter.
There s more information on the breather valve in the Sportsterpedia.

Thanks for the info Hippysmack. I have belt drive so I will ditch the filter and vent to the ground. Roger

John my ironheads don't have a breather hose. I gave that one to my son in law who rides a 90 FL. I believe he has it mounted under the seat.

That's an interesting catch can sungod.
Did you leave the anti-drainback flap in or did it have one?

Hippy all internals are removed. Three parts only. The outer can is shortened to hold the baffel can centered inside. I posted the pics to inspire creativity. Just playing in the shop.
Dimensions are 2h x 3 dia.
