Yeah good call on the Draw Through not needing any of the fuel pump/regulator things. Way simpler build when I think about it.
Your inspiring me to pull out all my old Turbo setups and have a crack at boosting my own Sporty.

Do it! Or if you don't wanna mess around with all that, you could buy my kit that's coming to market this summer hehe. I'm going to do the initial run @ $3,499.

Spent the past couple of days making a stand for this 883 longblock that I bought off Marketplace for $300 that has a giant hole in it (a baseball sized chunk is missing out of the case, lol). My patience waiting for a cheap "fixture" to build the turbo setups paid off! This motor is going to pull double duty as an easy way to fabricate kits and know for sure they'll fit great, and will also be brought with me to shows to showcase the setup.
Just finished placing the order for the new setup, which consists of;
-Increased plenum volume
-Better plenum design
-Smaller turbo (which will still be 200HP capable)
-All turbo's will be professionally inspected, modified for carbon seal, and VSR Balanced (3rd party Turbo Specialists, not myself)
-Improved collector design
-Cnc "transition" flange to keep primaries @ 1.75" diameter
-Custom Ignition System w/MAP sensor for a 3D ignition Map (automatically will pull additional timing, even at higher boost levels)
-Option for 2-step launch control + Quickshifter
This new setup is going to be out of the way, tucked in down low between the cylinders. Because of this, I feel comfortable offering the kit for the 04-06 bikes as well, though because of the higher compression and W cams we'll be including a (considerably) softer ignition advance curve.
The physical size of the turbo is much smaller now, in addition to weighting much less than the T28 turbo. Its' super versatile; Will work with forwards or mids, 883 or 1100/1200, and unlike the previous kit, any oem tank with either right or left petcock.
The goal is to begin selling the initial run of kits before Summer hits, and likely earlier so long as nothing major pops up. Oh and yes, I'll be bringing the final kit to the dyno for some numbers on my personal sportster before selling any kits. It's a bone stock 1200 motor/stock cams etc.
Next update will be when the new setup fabrication is done.

Thanks Steve! Crazy to think in April of this year it will have been a full 12 months.

Thanks! It's been a long road, and we're finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Very, very excited to finally bring this to market.

Congratulations, this has been a fascinating project. I hope you are successful in selling many kits in the near future. At least the market disruptions due to covid will have more time to subside and/or stabilize by summer.

Fabrication of the final kit has begun. I bought an extra turbo so that I have a beater turbo laying around the shop that's for mock up and fabrication only, same thing with the carb/intake manifold. Don't want my customer's parts getting dirty/shop junk on them. My goal with this new setup is to improve spool by at least a full 1,500RPM (so full boost at 2,500),essentially, make the full 8psi of boost practically as soon as you wick the throttle open. Instant response and torque; this turbo is small enough on the hotside that the bike will almost feel like a big cubic inch N/A bike with an early closing cam.
I've also decided that I'm going to make an effort in getting both the front and rear primary tubes at least 18" in length, and very close to equal length as well. In the exhaustive research I've done (in addition to testing 4 different manifold designs), the XL engine seems to respond well to long primary length and proper 2-1 merge collectors, and poorly to short-tube designs. I'm of the opinion that many of the principles that apply to an N/A engine apply to a turbo engine, albeit more than likely to a lesser degree, and with some nuances of course.
Would like to have the new kit up and running on my Sportster before the end of this week; we'll see. Don't know when the turbo shop is going to get the other carbon sealed turbo back to me, might end up being held up by that.
See you soon, next update will have the finished setup.
