About damn time. I'm sick of my eyes watering from fumes behind bikes in traffic.

Stay off my ass then. If your eyes are watering you're too f'n close.
We're not going anywhere. Anything the EPA tries wouldn't affect any previously built bikes anyway.
I specifically bought an 05(at the time 10+ years old for several reasons. 1.a carb 2.no polution garbage to delete. Same when I bought my 03 Peterbilt with the 6nz. You would love the black smoke billowing out of those 6" straight stacks.
Old Harleys will be around for a very long time. When it's gets tired it gets rebuilt. EPA problems solved. Good for performance shops. Bad for HD. BE careful what you wish for.
Go tie yourself to a tree. Makes me no nevermind.
Oops old thread. Said 20 minutes ago in the recent list. Oh well.
Killing time til all this rain passes. Another 3 inches overnight and early this morning. Non stop light show and thunder thru the night.

I have been 100' back in traffic and smelled the fumes from bikes running pig-rich.

Unless the Feds start enforcing anti-tampering laws...

Black smoke is wasted fuel.
Maybe it really is time to do what Cali has done, and simply remove all pre-2008 trucks from the road...

At this point, I would no longer oppose (in fact, I would enthusiastically support) emission testing on bikes similar to what California does with cars. I'm sick and tired of stupid.

Personally I could give @#!% what you're sick and tired of cuz I'm sick and tired of stupid too.
Ever wonder why cali pays more for everything? Not too bright pissin' off truck drivers. Wouldn't take but 1 day to bring cali to its knees.
Find a tree and hang on tight.
Feds have much more important things to attend to then appease a bunch of fruitcakes.
Fuel mileage increased right along with the HP on the pete btw. Nothing positive comes from emissions restrictions.
I can sit 2 feet behind my pipes all day.
Power to the people.
Some states are moving to abandon inspections altogether. Safety as well as emissions stating it amounts to nothing more than a tax. Good move.
Trump, who can't stand the EPA btw, has cut their budget by 31% and is rolling back 48 regulations.
Might have to reconsider Trump in 2020!

Actually make that 85 federal EPA rollbacks including 24 polution and emissions rollbacks deemed troublesome to the fossil fuel industry. 53 rolled back, the rest in the process of.
Among them he repealed a requirement that state and regional authorities track tailpipe emissions from vehicles traveling on federal highways.
Lifted a summertime ban on the use of E15, a gasoline blend made of 15 percent ethanol. (Burning gasoline with a higher concentration of ethanol in hot conditions increases smog.)
Proposed weakening Obama-era fuel-economy standards for cars and light trucks. The proposal also challenges California’s right to set its own more stringent standards, which other states can choose to follow.
Repealed emissions standards for glider trucks.(New trucks equipped with older engines with no emissions bs) Cat's 6nz is the most widely sought after motor for this, btw. It's a shame emissions bs ended Cat's big truck engines.
These all paint a very clear picture for the future of the EPA in regulating what states have to do for emissions. Not going to happen.
Make no mistake. Emissions bs is bad for the economy. Keep that in mind before supporting such commie regulations.
The EPA tried ending all motorcycle racing that involved the use of motorcycles that were built for road use that would've ended the sales of all performance products and effectively put performance shops out of business as well.
That failed.
EU emissions bs calls for a ban on ALL ICEs by 2050. These fruitcakes that come here and claim to support these commie laws are not your friend and threaten the very existence of this place. The vendors will be gone. Who's going to support it? Maybe your local electric company? Hah!
Think twice before you support the views of people like this.

I wish I could get E15 and E85 in this area...my car will burn it with zero problems. (It's a FFV.)

Will go nowhere, CARB standards are here to stay.

Until states start banning pre-emission trucks like Cali did...

I seriously doubt other states are chomping at the bit to go broke.
CA has regulated itself right into bankruptcy and wants the rest of the country to help.
Not going to happen. Let 'em sink. Who's going to pay for the continued enforcement? It will be one of the first things to go when they swallow enough water.
Wrap those flaps around my pipes and suck it up buttercup!

some states have dead zones that require stricter controls.
if you ever been around cali in the past and see how it was compared to now, those standards worked. just like going into chicago, from 100 miles out, you could see a black cloud like tires burning.
would all this be needed in montana boonies, nope, although it would hurt either.
cali is special, i remember when the cats came out, the state required them. hot rodders removed them and super tuned their engines and were putting out less emissions than a stocker but yet, got impounded and cat installed. the ole lawn boy mower, one of the finest, was killed by one woman politician because the lawn service kept waking her up in the morning and the police could do nothing so she saw heavy oil mix smoking out the mower and nailed them. then it was pushed to ban two cycles, hummmm, perhaps why hd is seeking electrics now.

When Tricky Dick started the EPA way back in the 60's, it was a worthwhile idea. But like most every govt. bureaucracy, over time they've gotten larger, and more intrusive in our lives and the economy. The politicians need to keep an eye on them and reign them in (yeah, right)
