Looking for a Sissy bar for my Sportster 883
Hi Everyone,
I am looking to buy a new sissy bar for my Sportster 883 and am a little confused about finding the best one. I'm looking for a sissy bar that should be under $150 and should also be available in mate black.
I was googling and found this Viking Bag's sissy bar "https://www.vikingbags.com/iron-born-standard-25-tall-motorcycle-sissy-bar-for-harley-sportster-883-iron-xl883n-matte-black". I didn't know they also sell sissy bars but I'm quite familiar with their bags and found them quite good in quality and also expecting their sissy bar also good in quality.
Please let me know what are your thoughts on it, should I go for this sissy bar, if not then please share some other options.

That particular style sissy bar (that you linked) seems like it is for looks & not for passenger or luggage safety (just my opinion - I never used one).
How do you intend to use it? Do you currently have one you're replacing?
Personally, I use a removeable one so that I don't have it on the bike except when I need to take luggage - I have a solo seat so no passengers.
One of the reasons is because I swing my leg over the bike to get on it. With the sissybar there, you have to draw your leg up to swing it over or you need to put your leg forward and swing it over.
What style have you looked at and rejected (you definitely don't want that)?
More information will help us to give a helpful opinion.

That looks a bit brutal bolting it to the outside of the frame covers.
Although it will cost more it could pay to look at the detachable hardware mounts such that you can pick and choose what you put on the back depending on what you want to do.
HD does a bolt on sissy bar that fits inside the covers and I think that looks better, IMO.

Hey all,
Thanks for your suggestion and pardon me for the late reply.
Currently, there is no sissy bar with my Sportster right now but had a backrest with my previous V star 250, and am new to sissy bars.
Actually, there are two main purposes to buy a sissy bar:
The first is that I wanted to add a sissy bar to my motorcycle to enhance the looks that's why I'm falling for a lighter one. This is also the reason that is stopping me to go for a detachable one as these sissy bars are too bulky, I know they can be removed as needed but that is not my requirement.
And the second reason to buy it actually is to carry luggage. I have solo seat on my Sportster iron 883 and there is nothing like a passenger seat.
I was using this bag “ https://www.vikingbags.com/vikingbag...-sissy-bar-bag” with my previous motorcycle and planning to add this bag to the sissy bar if I need to carry luggage with me and was thinking if I could add this bag at the front of the sissy bar behind me like this
https://ibb.co/xSn7J06 (I don't know how to add just image so I added link to the image)
And the sissy bar I mentioned is meeting my all requirements and is also available in black color and matching with the theme of the motorcycle.
Please let me know if there is anything better than this that is meeting my all requirements.

Your requirements seem reasonable. I don't see any reason that Viking sissy bar wouldn't work. It is a simple design.
I would want something a bit more showy for aesthetics - Maybe twisted rails and a design between the rails...
If you're satisfied, I don't see a problem.
Good Luck - Give us a report after you make your choice & have ridden with it for a few months.

I think that would work well, especially if you're going for the look, first, with the benefit of being able to put that bag on as luggage/backrest. I have a similar set up on my "09C using the H-D detachable stuff & a big Tourmaster Nylon III bag. Works very well for me, but the only time that comes off the bike is when I need to work on it, or it really needs cleaning.

Okay, thank you so much for your opinion.
Now, I'm gonna buy the Viking's sissybar and am planning to add a first-look review in a new thread once I receive one.
