Declan, you’re so right, we ran that route on C.O.B.B.1 a couple years ago. Think I put 4.47 gallons into the 4.5 gallon tank at one point.
You going to see Brad later on?

That gas “station” is still in Catavina!
You have to know those type of stations are around down there. They are a savior sometimes. However there are a few more newer Pemex stations around nowadays.

Paul,

Saw Brad last Friday. He drove out where I was staying for a chat.
I am back home already.

I have started paying attention to gas stations and I think Iron Mike is spot on in most cases. I got spoiled by my 4.5 tank and from living in the east. Still, i like having an extra liter and AAA for a fill up. I just have to get used to looking for fuel every 50 miles.

Definitely have to pay attention. A few feet of small fuel line wrapped in your tool bag helps out sometimes. If you ride with some big twin guys with big tanks is helpful too. If you run out, just pull over and wait until they catch up! Then just borrow a little from each to get you to the next stop.

Took a ride to Gila Bend via old route 80 so I could ride over the Historic Gillespie Dam Bridge.

Lots of bikes out today. Sunny and 80.

Thanks for posting the pic... I love bikes & I love bridges....

PS.... As much as I like seeing your ride, try for a bit more of the bridge next time....

Found a 2L bottle from the ADVRider world. Not part of my every day setup, since I am finding that gas is mostly there, if I look for it. But for longer trips, this seems pretty good.
