Great pics camp. I am changing out my 2.5 gallon oem tank on my 95 XLH 883 DLX with a set of flatside tanks from a 94 FLSTF Fat boy will this bracket work for that application and how would the instrument panel base plate bolt onto it.

Don't think you will get a reply from a 2009 post/thread.

Meh. I'll reply. It will work if you weld top long mount to top frame tube. T-bracket gets welded on for bottom mount stiffness. Hose clamps work good for mockup.

Once those mounts are mounted up right . Bolt tanks on. Then the insert for mounting dash goes on next . All mounting holes supplied by top plate.

Might help. Might not. Link

I run the one piece on mine. No mods required.

Thanks rocky that helps me out alot my other thought for the rear tank mount is to use the Biker's Choice Flatside-to-Fat Bob Tank Mounting Kits 48-9727 https://www.summitracing.com/parts/b...RoCt3MQAvD_BwE
but just the long piece with the 2 bungs
what do you think or should drill 2 holes for rear tabs and use bungs not sure what my height is yet will make that decision when i get there i guess.

Can;t say really as I am fluid as I go on a build and adapt and 0ver come as glitches arise.
Experimentation requires this. That was why I mentioned start out with hose clamps for mockups.

Those brackets shown though are usually mount, plug and play.

Putting a large tank on an Ironhead seriously raises the center of gravity on a design that already has a high center of gravity.

That is why the MoCo put a small tank on the Ironhead.

Raising the center of gravity detracts from the bikes ability to rapidly change direction.

They don't call me Ironhead Rick just because I'm hard headed

here is the larger fat boy tanks prefab. I was looking for clearance issues and an over all picture of what I will need to do.

1994 Fat boy split tanks.

1995 XLH 883 DLX before tank mod.

I have a long way to go before this project is done

Fuel wont transfer when its below the crossover tube height. With that mounting angle, it doesn't look like youll have any more usable capacity than your stock tank holds now.

I am moving the tank back 2 inches and down so it sits more level and the peacock is straight up and down.
