Had the first part of my "goodies" arrive. There's a set of SE .575 cams sitting here. Checked 'em to make sure I actually got a set of 4 and set 'em on a shelf in my spare bedroom. More is coming from Hammer...

Winter sucks.

So, inquiring minds want to know... If you're ordering parts
from HammerPerf, why not use their JackHammer 570, Impact 560,
or Crush 600 cams instead of the SE stuff ?

Again, just wondering.

thanks,

T.

Default 575’s

I have them in the 2004”R”, real good top end pull but had bad reversion down around 2500-3000. Was able to adjust my SuperTrapp and now pulls good down there as well. Keep it safe my friend.
Poor Black Beauty’s been stabled out in the driveway, not ridden for several days and the single digit temps of last night,(neglected to put the Tender on her), she was hard to get spinning. Did fire up and got 80+ miles in. Met Coastie56 for breakfast then just cruised around, felt good getting back out in the wind. Not sure if we got into the 30’s or not.

From Hammers' site, they sell them:

"Screamin Eagle .575 - More top end than the SE .536, but needs better springs. 10:1 to 11:1 is where you want the compression ratio. Easy on the valvetrain. Use pistons with large valve pockets. Small base circle to avoid cam box and tappet pin clearance issues. Excellent match for Smash head service with heavy duty valvetrain pieces. Broad powerband up to 7000+ rpm."

They're in between 560's and 600's and should be ok without roller rockers. With a 10.5:1 1275 kit and valve springs etc I can run the .551's I have or the .575's. The .575's are to play with. Looks like I'm going to NM, very southeast WI to very northwest NM, probably in July for a visit so I'll put in the 1275 kit and valve springs, clean up the ports etc when it gets warm enough again but leave the .551's I'm running so I get gas mileage. Range actually, miles per tank. Then I can drop in the .575 cams and re-tune and play when I get back. I was kinda worried HD will dis-continue them. The .497's went away. Can't have too much stuff to play with.

That may or may not make sense...

I'm wanting to stay pretty stock appearing. Stock (with crossover) head pipes with Rush slip-ons. Hammer Impact air cleaner that's knee friendly. Late EFI with PowerVision will help its' manners. I wanted to try a set of CAMS but without needing big dollar mods to accommodate them. If they're too much I'll change 'em. 560's will drop in too or I can put the .551's back in.

Pulled fork lowers off for powder coating and seal change. Both retainer bolts were stripped so I had to drill the heads off.
