Way down the road, when their flyweights start to wear, that same company I linked sells solid steel replacement weights, and all sorts of other service parts for the advance unit. They are a good investment.

Does the advance have to sit on the cam a certain way or however it sits is fine?

There is a pin in the advance that engages in the notch in the cam to align the adv mech.

AFter you get the points in you have to center the adv mech so the points gap is the same on both lobes. slightly loosen the center bolt and tap lightly to center points cam then recheck after tightening.
