Looks like Folkie wants to get dirty. Now were on the bike would you put the brass bits?

I've got some work to do: I've got to:
  1. Clear out the garage to make room for another bike,
    .
  2. Sell some stuff to raise some of the necessary.
Some of the things I do for 'b' will also help with 'a', of course.

Hey Folkie,

Good choice. Hondas are the best all around dual sports out there.

Just picked up the "little brother" to the bike you're considering.

2008 CRF230L, got it in August and rode til it got too cold.

Fun little bike, light and responsive:

Thanks bklyngeezer; and nice pics. Yep, that's basically the same bike as I'm looking at. It went to a 250 in 2013.

Not that there is actually much choice, at least for a newish bike. It's down to the CRF250L, or the Kawasaki KLX250. I prefer the Honda because it has a little more power, a lower seat height, and there's lots more stuff available for it. Like: links to lower the rear suspension (which I might want to do), bigger fuel tanks (don't think I'll need one), lower / better seats (might do), racks and bags (almost certainly), … .

I do like the colour of the Kawasaki though:

There are bigger bikes that claim to be dual purpose on/off road, of course, but there're all:
  1. Much heavier,
    .
  2. Much more expensive,
    .
    or
    .
  3. Not really meant for off road use, more for off road style posing, and don't have, or couldn't even take, real on/off road tyres.
