I think it was more that the Vrod simply did nothing well...and had a hugely-painful PM schedule.

I think you mean most "Harley" riders don't want a radiator.....although you have one with that oil cooler....which in effect is a radiator. Many motorcycles of current engineering design have some sort of water filled radiator, it provides more level engine temps, tighter engine tolerances, less engine noise, less engine problems except with the radiator and it's components. The aforementioned benefits will most likely also provide added engine response, better milage and more power. You will see water radiators on Harleys big twins, but years down the road.

So I stopped by a dealer on Saturday cause I had some time to kill before a lunch meeting.

They had a Street Bob and Fat Bob sitting side-by-side and I was going back and forth comparing those mid mounts on the Street Bob to the mounting point and exhaust on the Fat Bob.

I dunno... it MIGHT just bolt up, or it might need a little shimming. But it looks like it COULD work on the Fat Bob. I mean that footpeg and brake pedal on the Street Bob do come out pretty wide before they come upward.

I'd sure like to find out how hard it would be.

Rather than trying to hide radiators behind ugly plastic shrouds, I'd rather that H-D just hang them like the radiator on the XG750R. I look at the XG750R and think H-D is saying: Yeah, it's got a radiator. You got a problem with that?

Checked out the XG750A.
Sounds more like my next bike than anything else Harley makes.

I've had a few bikes with radiators. I actually like them, especially on a commuter bike.
They've never given me any problems.

Now that I've mourned the Dyna I can see more potential in the new Softails.
I still don't like the Dyna converts but the bikes that were already Softail still look good, like the Deluxe(minus the turn signals) and the Heritage. The Baggers still look great as well. This would be a great time to bring back some classic Softails in their original look, like the Night Train and Deuce. The old Softail standard was a real pretty bike too. They don't have to come back all at once but maybe rotate some classics back into the lineup each year or two that actually look like the classics they are supposed to be.
