The labelling is the least of the differences. The wiring around the charge light is different, and the diode is opposite ways around in the two diagrams.

That's very clear; so the correct diagram is the second one, the one with the generator terminals labelled.

The 2nd circuit is correct - The Gen Light should activate when the Generator Voltage is below the Battery Voltage, meaning the Generator is not charging the Battery.

The design of the first schematic would light the Gen Light any time the Generator was outputing power - while the 2nd schematic is activated by a differential voltage between the Generator & the Battery...

I pulled the diagram into the SP before it was changed - I'll now make my own changes to the diagram I have to reflect the 'UPDATED' version...


ETA: The SP has been updated with those discussed changes - If there are other changes in the later schematic, I'll update it further...
