Nibelungen, thank 's, I'm sure the new EFI rubber mount model's nice to ride!!
my 2003 xlh product improved, have 2018 EFI heads ( off 1200 /48 with only 3,000 km up ) 88" ( 1450cc ) Axtell, have the late pressed pin crank, got it pulled apart to inspect trued & had balance factor changed to Low 50's %, by a guy here in Australia with lot of experience , welded crank pin, hammer billet manifold , Bobby Wood CV435 Rebel Carb, Hammer Sledge Air Cleaner Hammer 560 impact Cams, S&S premium lifters, full gear box rebuilt & back cut for quick shifts, by a guy here in Australia with 40 years Harley experience.
still wearing in pistons to iron barrels, but motor pull's smooth & feels smooth I can look in mirrors. have Ohlins shocks 15" long had set up to my weight, had same guy rebuilt forks race tech & gold valving. has firm ride , have only ridden 1,300 km as only been going one week ( still wearing in ) still stock clutch as next week should have enough miles to run on dyne & fine tune & put new clutch in ( no spring plate )

The basket and hub on mine looked like a war zone. I'm sure it still does, minus the burrs, but it works fine. That's probably a very usable basket and hub you have. I would save it for a "just in case" situation, and it will probably work so well you will leave it in whatever you use it on.

Once i rode a solid carb 88"...
I remember well how her pulled... nothing compared to metric ones...
even compared with powerful high performance superbikes... is yet a strong different sensation...

i would like to ride yours and also Trace's bike...

My bull headedness is supported by my experiences with my Sporties. My greatest lesson learned is if there is anyway possible to continue down the road with a wounded machine these damn Sporties will soldier on and get you home.

I can echo those sentiments as my 2000 “C” has an 89” S&S kit and is awesome passing convoys of semi trucks on the freeway with just slight roll on of throttle in high gear. It can be a handful in town at low speed especially hitting pot holes and tar snakes. I’ve learned that adding tension to the throttle adjuster helps to minimize the explosive power surge. Need to experience to believe.
