well took awhile but this is the vega needing minor repairs.

basically needs new bracket hooks and a general clean up. the case is a loss but a new one can be made easily.

She's a beut, looks to be in pretty good condition. A little TLC and good as new. Vegas are a great banjo. Still being made by Deering and fetching premium prices both new and used.
Does it have an tone ring? Can't really tell from the picture.

been busy but at last it is done
cleaned the chrome and clear powder
de-rusted the hooks and hammer tone copper vein powder
repainted the headstock
refurbished the head with fusion paint for plastic
tuned to open "E" so it resembles the guitar normally it is an open "G"
along side it my 1961 gretsch corvette twist, heavily modified. originally cherry red with stripe red/white pickguard. bought it new, worth some coin if i left it alone, but oh well, never meant to be sold anyway.

I pick a bit, 4-string tenor banjo in my case. It’s easier to find places to play because bluegrass sessions aren’t common over here.

Wow! That little Vega cleaned up nice. I got a chance to play one when I was picking up my Deering. Has a great tone. Pick it in good health

I love the sound of the 4 string. Barney McKenna is amazing

when it was apart, it turns out to be a 1964 ranger. trying to find some books on playing it, the reason is used "E", but would like to use other tunnings with out a capo. they make a slick capo for the #5 string that i saw on utube.

Spikes work well for fifth string. Literally they are HO scale model railroad spikes. You tuck the string under and you're good to go. Mine are at 7, 9 and 10th. I had mine installed while I was getting the neck scooped. Handy guy like you could do it yourself
