Do you still have stock forks / springs etc? What tires are you using? I will need new tires soon and I don't think they make Avon Venom X tires any more. Steering damper is a good idea.

Despite excellent suspension on my 2006 Roadster, I have no confidence at speeds over 90 mph. The bike will do it, I won't, getting too old I guess.

I have Progressive Springs in the forks and the tires are Avon RoadRiders AM26's.

As aggressively as I have changed this bikes performance, geometry and suspension believe it or not I have had nothing but positive results. My wife's 48 with basically stock suspension tends to wobble but the Café bike never has.

Over all I am really happy with the bike's performance. The upgrades to the motor, suspension and braking have all made nothing but positive impacts to the bike.

Here are some of the performance oriented upgrades I have made.

Suspension:
Burly Brand / Progressive Stiletto 15" Rear Shocks
Burly Brand / Progressive Front Fork Spring Inserts
Roland Sands Design Front Fork Preload Adjusters
DBI Steering Stabilizer

Braking:
14mm Bore Front Master Cylinder (from a XL1200R)
Performance Machine 6 Piston Front Caliper
Performance Machine 4 Piston Rear Caliper
Roland Sands Design 13" Front Brake Rotor
Roland Sands Design 11.5" Rear Brake Rotor

Engine:
Hammer Performance 1250 Kit
Hammer Performance Smash Level Head Porting on Stock 883 Heads
Competition Valve Job with upgrades valve springs and titanium Retainers
Hammer Performance Impact 560 Cams
Hammer Performance Pushrods
Energy One Extra Plate Clutch Kit
PowerVision with AutoTune Pro Kit

The combination of all of this has made this bike really perform well. I have not had the bike Dyno'd yet but will soon and will post results when I do. As far as riding at speed. I regularly get to 100 and it is smooth as silk. Maybe I have been lucky but it all works....So Far...

They seem to be. I am no pro rider but have ridden since I was a kid. I push the bike pretty hard and I have not had any issues. But again I would not consider my self a knee dragger either.

My impression (from what I've read that is) is you get a good grip but low milage from them. I think Avon Venom is replaced by Cobra by the way. I run Cobra up front and Avon 3D X-M on the rear, very pleased over all.
