Harley's problem is that they don't know what they're trying to do.
They keep trying the "entry" market (since 1926), and quickly raise the price until it isn't.
Then they add "features"... which raise the cost but not the sell volume.

When I started this thread, I was wondering if the Sportster may someday benefit from dual plug heads (59 MPG from 2002 1200 Sport when stock) and four valves per cylinder, while retaining a push rod motor without a radiator, just an oil cooler unobtrusive in the frame.

BTW, the Milwaukee 8 oil cooler is much less obvious than the one on my 2012 Triumph Bonneville or 2014 Honda CB1100.

I would like to see that just don't forget all of the other improvements I've mentioned numerous times.

i like the way my OEM oil cooler stands out of the frame

Regarding variable valve timing, VVT is mostly beneficial at higher RPMs and suitable for overhead cam motors. A tach on a fxlr with a Milwaukee 8 only goes to 5000 RPMs.
