Yep, bass clef.

Wish I'd met that "some girl".
None of my exes ever propagated anything close to roses on my grave.
But, they can guarantee I will never have to worry about grass not growing over me.

Found it and changed it.
That section needs to be massaged into the engine pages. Will put it on the list.

Thank you.
We need everybody to vet the information as they can.

Hello

Was looking for info about the Koso TNT-01 gauge and came across the link http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...01_speedo_tach

Just so you know, you can trigger the tach part using the tach trigger from your single fire ignition as well. I did it on my 95 with crane hi-4 ignition and the tach worked right out of the box. Still working on the speed part but can give you the info on that to if you want.

Thanks TF. Glad you confirmed it being compatible with the single-fire tach signal.

This is a highly programmable Speedo/Tach.

I updated the link to the install/programming instructions since Koso moved them.

Hi there,
First let me say that this website has been a great help to me. But.
I have a problem with a section on the EVO Primary Drive. Specifically the part that talks about fitting a new gear change shaft oil seal. A Factory memo is quoted, telling us that a new type of seal is being used and says that the seal should be seated between 0.125 and 0.135” (3.175mm to 3.429mm) in, rather than pushing it all the way home. I’m in the process of doing this job at the moment and here’s what I have found;
The depth of the cavity in which the seal has to be seated is between 4.5mm and 5.5mm, whilst the seal is 4.67mm thick.
Obviously you can’t drive in anywhere near the listed depth, let alone leave any kind of gap between the inside face of the seal and the bottom of the cavity. I don’t know where to go from here, because I just don’t see any way of leaving a gap where the factory advises we should. There’s not enough room for this. My question is; how far in should I press the seal? If I press it in to the point where it just touches the bottom of the cavity, is this going to cause a problem?
Given the measurements above, the outer face of the seal will be sitting ‘proud’ at the upper edge of the cavity, owing to the curvature of the primary case which contributes to the difference in the depth measurements. That’s not an issue as far as I can see, but I want to ensure that the seal works properly.
Thanks for your consideration of this issue.

Big Al

So, this is the section being discussed (I presume):
http://sportsterpedia.com/doku.php/t...ter_shaft_seal

"This allows the spring to keep the lips of the seal against the shaft. Bottoming the seal will damage it and prevent it from sealing properly."

The idea is that if you bottom the seal, the lips around the shaft will be pressed tightly against the primary cover and will not allow the lips to smoothly follow the movement of the shaft. Thus, the tight lips will be thwarting the 'sealing' aspect that the 'garter spring' is designed to enhance.

The clearance should be for the deepest part of the seal cavity in the primary cover. As that SP note mentions, the specific instructions are for the BT models. Therefore, the Sportster models may not be exactly the same details.

BUT, the principle still applies: Insert the seal slightly below that deepest edge of the cavity and don't bottom out the seal. That gives it the best chance to work correctly.

I'll add a further explanation to the SP to make this clear.
