I don't run turn signals, use hand signals because that's what I growed up with.
The tach on my FXDC is part of the digital display, so I have to have the display set to that, so it wasn't until after I bought the bike I discovered the rpm readout.

I am looking for a small one for my '03 XL. because I like them.

Iree- I remember seeing Jay S. at the Pompano half-mile in '77. What an incredible rider!

Other than Drag Racing at the launch, does anyone look at rpms whilst riding?
Seems to me, riding always entails using all the senses. My eyes are used for escape routes, interesting roadside bits, ( here in Fla ) scantily dressed hot dog vending ladies for example or much further away traffic conditions. My ears and hands record rpms and my nose tells me there is a chicken rendering plant nearby.
My Iree sense tells me the 4 blue haired escapees from liesureland, all pointing in different directions in the rental car next to me, to... not be next to them as quickly as possible.

Maybe i am different.

5950, unless you have the SE ignition, then it's 6950!

Now I know you don't NEED a tach. I just like to have data, that's all.

For my 883, I found that you can use the speedometer for a good approx.

First gear revs = 1.5 speedo [30 mph = 4500 rpm]
2nd gear = 1x speedo [25 mph = 2500 rpm]
3rd gear = 3/4 speedo
4th gear = 5/8 speedo
5th gear = 1/2 speedo reading.

good enough for me.

Uhhh. I’m a Luddite. No gages please. Disturbs my zen. Feel the ride. Your senses tell you more than that stuff is worth. Simplicity is my zone, all that complexity is distracting and worrisome at best.

The problem is that when your senses kick in the damage has already been done, IMO.
