Yep. All white out there again this morning.
All this corn oil talk is almost as funny as spending $10+ on a qt. of designer mc oil thinking it's any better than the stuff I run for $5.60.
I just saw you guys running Syn 3 pay $12.95/qt.? Is that a typo? Tell me that's not right...

Syn 3, at my local HD, runs $13.50 a qt., M1 $8.50 locally. Others run the gambit of $5-$14 a qt. for Syn.
I see a lot of people consider that using the recommended oil, for their particular year of bike, is the "sure-proof" way to go. I think you need to consider how old your bike is and the fact that oils have improved and fuel quality, nowadays, hasn't. What worked great, back then, might not work as great today.
If you don't mind changing oil a lot, dino is probably the way to go. If you find it tedious and too short term, then synthetic is the way to go.

+1. Following these guidelines and using a known brand name is what I recommend, too. Although there are some people who like to use the store brand name. When you figure that most people only change oil 2 or 3 times a year, they are only saving pennies. Not going to Star Bucks one time should pay the difference for the brand name price, per oil change.

Dunno. I call them "riding days". Today will be 60 and sunny. Goin' ridin'.
Tomorrow will be rain/snow mix in the 30's. Not goin' ridin'.
One day at a time, Sweet Jesus.
In cold weather, I have a new oil change, battery on the Battery Tender and the tank full of stabilized, non-ethanol gas and pray that I can use it up. I plan for the worst and hope for the best.

Hey, once the salt hits the roads, it's over. We're having our 3rd snowfall of the year right now. Should be in the 50s this time of year. We havent seen 50s for 3 weeks and your riding days as you call it won't be back til spring here.
I remember when $3/qt. was high. But $13.95 for a quart of oil because it says HD on the label? How you can justify that?

I would say I feel your pain, but I don't. Just now cooling down to mid to upper 80's here for the highs and it was a nice upper 60s this morning on my ride in.

Having nice weather to ride in is some consolation for having totally boring roads to ride on...

Easy to justified; most people use two oil changes, one at the beginning of the season an another one at the end. 7 X 14$ is about right on the 100$ minimum charge at the dealer.
