Raise your hand if you think any adult should have access to legal pot, including your own adult children and the lady bus driver who takes your grandchildren to school.

Hmmmm. I count 330 hands. Yea for the druggies!

yea for paranoid sensationalism!

i'll quote myself
Quote:
my opinion is that marijuana use in and of itself shouldn't be justification for legal ramifications including incarceration particularly with the current scientific knowledge of its health effects. and that maybe legal repercussions need to apply where they are deserved just like they are for alcohol, driving while distracted and the one that almost every driver is guilty of; speeding, the number one cause and or contributing factor of traffic fatalities.

I have read here that marijuana stays 3 months in hair, 1 month in blood and something like 2 weeks in urina. But however, it depends on the quantity you smoked.

Current opinion by some medical people is that regular, heavy marijuana smoking can lead to schizophrenia for some pot heads.

It's not a hard drug and it's not addictive. Alcohol and smoking are worse to your body.
Legalizing it will get it out of the illegal circuit.

Just apply the same rules as to alcohol i.e. don't use it while driving etc...

Let people decide for themselves. They're not incapacitated.

It's a chicken or egg discussion on narcissistic personality disorder/schizophrenia caused by drug use (with THC being far and away the leading drug) or if NPD/Schizo patients begin self treatment with drugs.

Either way, the quote from a mental healthcare pro I remember most is.. "Not all pot smokers are psychotics, but all psychotics are pot smokers." It's a serious heads up to family/friends of those who smoke pot regularly.

https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/b...-schizophrenia

Quote:
.......A strong association between marijuana and schizophrenia has been recognized for some years, though it hasn’t been clear whether marijuana caused schizophrenia or was used as self-medication, or even if both of these possibilities might be true. One recent study done at Tel Aviv University found that when mice with a genetic susceptibility to schizophrenia were exposed to THC, the psychoactive compound in marijuana, they showed schizophrenia-like effects, while mice without susceptibility did not. [1]

Hannelore Ehrenreich of the Max Planck Institute conducted another recent study of marijuana use, reported in Scientific American. Her research was based on a sample of 1200 people with schizophrenia. Comparing the age of onset of those who used cannabis before they were eighteen to the age of onset for those who didn’t, they found significantly earlier onset for the former group. The more often marijuana was used, the earlier the age of onset. Robin Murray of King’s College London, another researcher into the connection between marijuana and schizophrenia, supports Ehrenreich’s findings on cannabis, saying. “The more you take—and the higher the potency—the greater the risk.”[2]

There are still many who reject the idea that marijuana is one of the environmental factors that can act on a genetic susceptibility to trigger schizophrenia. Considering the terrible pain of those hit by schizophrenia and their families, I feel we should do everything we can to discourage teenagers with family histories of mental illness from using marijuana at least until they are adults.

Wow, some of the crap I read here by the antis is really out there. You'd think it was Nancy Reagan herself talking!
I wonder how many of you are pickling your brain with alcohol tho. If that's legal, weed should be as well because alcohol is far more damaging to society than weed ever will be.
For the record, I don't partake of either. Haven't for many years.
